Thursday June 19, 1941

I didn't sleep very good last night. I got up at 7:30. Went to work at 8 did the washing breakfast, supper and dinner dishes. Fixed dinner made cookies, mopped the porch and kitchen, made beds, brought in clothes sprinkled and folded them, washed out doors. Walked to town went over to Uncle Phil's.

Wednesday June 18, 1941

I go up at 6:30 was home before 8. Went to work at 9, cleaned house a little did dishes got dinner etc. but didn't like my job any better. It was a little easier with Frann home. After work I got ready and went to Leota's shower at Farins st. was good I had fun I decided to sleep at home. Stopped in to Orton's for Oleah on my way home. Waded in water.

Tuesday June 17, 1941

I rode from Turpins with Bud. I had started to water the garden. Laura broke her leg and I had to go to work for her I really didn't have any choice. I got dinner and cleaned a little. It wasn't very pleasant she was in so much pain and of course can't get out of bed and I didn't know where anything was. I walked to (?) Lily Mae is here. It is 9:40 I want to go to bed.

Monday June 16, 1941

I didn't get home very early. I talked to Alice and stopped at the store on my way up. It was hot as "love in August" I mopped the kitchen, helped with dishes read and embroidered. Listened to the Lux Theater Aunt Nora was still here. I wouldn't needed to have come to town but I didn't know it. I is 9:05 We have had ward teachers.

Sunday June 15, 1941

I hurried off to church. Rode home, left my hat after dinner dishes went to town with the folks stopped for my hat and then went to the show in Mt. Pleasant - they were "Footsteps in the Dark" and "A Girl a Guy and a Gob" Both were good. When I came back I found a note from Marvin so got ready. We went to "Western Union" in Fairview Leota and Wendell were with us.





Saturday June 14, 1941

Walked home as usual didn't do much till after noon. I  helped make cake. I worked on my dish-towels cleaned a little in the bedroom and front room. Rode to town with Reola and Archie tended Steven, bathed and went to the dance but had a heck of time and got so disgusted I can't even act civil, am so tired and sleepy I can't write half decent.

Friday June 13, 1941

We went to the store and then rode up home with Uncle Reece I made cookies, quilted and played with Steven. We rode back with Uncle Reece. Went to Aunt Theresa's a minute. After we got home we played cards. Went to the cafe and got us a bar. It is 9 o'clock now.

Thursday June 12, 1941

I went to the store and then walked up home. I dusted, did dishes mopped helped with dinner and tried to quilt but didn't earn much. I walked back to town as usual. Town gossip is about Cheney coming home (It seems disgraced) Mrs. Tucker is here I am going to embroidery now.

Wednesday June 11, 1941

I have walked home and back done monstrous ironing, washed my hair. Wrote to Marvin got a card from Tom he is clear out in California. I did up my hair and tired now and must get to bed soon. Leota finished her dress today Lester Turpin died.

Tuesday June 10, 1941

Walked home helped wash mopped wrote to the girls. Made pie filling. Carried folded and sprinkled the clothes.Walked back to town worked on my dish-towel. Mrs. Pearson was here and stayed until 10:30. I am sleepy now and rather tired must get to bed as soon as possible.

Monday June 9, 1941

It rained nearly all day. I went home about noon I got my dish-towel transfers and a heart-stirring letter from Marvin. I hemmed my dish-towels and stamped them. I rode part of the way to town with Ruth Peterson. When I got here I went to Aunt Theresa's and helped tend Steven till after nine o'clock.

Sunday June 8, 1941

It has rained nearly all day. I went to church, helped wit dishes, entertained the kids. Rode to the depot with Carlstons and then brought the bicycle on down here Aunt Nora didn't go back. I read until bedtime. It is 9:40 now. I must go to bed now the folks are waiting for me to get ready.

Saturday June 7, 1941

I walked home, rode to Mt. Pleasant and back. Got me some new stockings and Pygama's. Did some shopping in town. I helped with dishes, carried water mopped the kitchen, made bread. Helped mop and waxed the Front Room. Wendell came to see Leota. I walked back to town, bathed and sewed on some w.w. (?) Aunt Nora and Uncle Wen came. It is 8:40 now. I don't know if there is a dance.

Friday June 6, 1941

I walked home, read on the way I made Dovell's doll and outfit. Leah came we walked around a little and visited a lot I walked to town with Leah. We went to the central office and paid for a call to Ephraim. Ivan had a wreck on the motorcycle and broke his collar-boe. Melvin went to Salt Lake on the train. I didn't have any dinner. It is 9 now.

Thursday June 5, 1941

I walked ho, didn't do much of any thing I helped grandma before I left where I got bark I helped stem straw-berries mailed the letters to Marvin and the girls. I went to the Library and got another book I have been reading it. It is "Katrina Van Ost and the Silver Rose." I like as much as I have read of it. It is 9:30 now.

Wednesday June 4, 1941

I walked home. I did up my hair made cookies and wrote to the kids and to Marvin. We made ice cream. I took the book to the library and got another, before I left and after I got back I helped grandma. Miss Tucker, Lu Dean Mondell and Uncle Chet have been here. It is 10 o'clock now.

Tuesday June 3, 1941

I walked home as usual. Ironed made bread and odd jobs. Rode to Mt. Pleasant and back with the folks Clifton had a tooth pulled. We got a card from the girls. Before I went home this morning I helped move furniture so Denise could calcimine. It is nine o'clock now Goldie has been here. I am not tired as usual but I feel a little bit sick.

Monday June 2, 1941

I walked home finished the last (worst) half of the washing mopped helped get kids ready for primary, helped irrigate the garden carried in clothes folded and sprinkled them. Made an order for dish towel transfers. Rode about half way to town with folks. They went to Melburn for a pig. I am tired almost as if I picked berries.

Sunday June 1, 1941

I didn't go to church. Straightened the front room a little, helped the kids pack they left at last and I don't envy them. I still had a chance to go. Rode to town went to Aunt Christa's a while with the folks then came to grandma's. After they left we went over and stayed with Steven till after midnight. It made me very sleepy.

Saturday May 31, 1941

Melvin came for me in the car. I took quite a (?) of my belongings home. I cleaned in the front room made custard for ice cream helped with dinner and supper and dishes, mopped the kitchen, basted my coat. Planted beans and almost a myriad of other chores including making beds, trimming lilacs, carrying water, coal etc. It is after nine now I must get to bed as soon as possible. I am pleasantly tired.

Friday May 30, 1941

I walked home did up my hair made pie crust helped with dishes read and helped with supper. Got a ride with Uncle Willis on the way down. Saw Hazel and daughter. Bathed and got ready, went to the dance. Danced with Boyd M. Roger A. Mac B. Left before the dance was out because of cold.

Thursday May 29, 1941

I walked home. Got dinner helped with dishes, ripped my winter coat all to pieces, varnished the dresser radio and table. Played around. Walked to town and didn't do much after that Aunt Nora and Uncle Wendel came. It is 8:50 we will be retiring soon.

Wednesday May 28, 1941

I walked home. Ironed all day. Rode to Mt. Pleasant and back. Helped daddy shop in Safeway after supper. I wrote to Marvin. I believe life is getting more monotonous every day. I haven't anything to write tonight.

Tuesday May 27, 1941

I walked home part way Rode with the Mill truck again. Got a letter from Marvin. Helped with dishes and dinner mopped the kitchen carried water and brought in clothes was very embarrassed but don't care to remember it. Walked to town washed my hair and fixed a little on my old coat but decided to give it up as a rag. It is 9 o'clock now we will be retiring soon.

Monday May 26, 1941

I walked most of the way home rode a little with the mill truck. Helped with dishes, made bread cookies painted got dinner and odd jobs. Rode most of the way down with Reola (?) then made paper flowers. Played cards went to bed at 9:15. They started working on the new lane today.

Sunday May 25, 1941

I went to church, walked home, slept awhile walked back. We were playing cards when Uncle Phil and Aunt Olive came. In just a minute Leota. Wen and (?) came. We went to the show here. It was "Land of Liberty" and the "Durango Kid." When I got home I was locked out so we took Leota home first. It rained hard. When we came back grandma was home she had been to the show too.

Saturday May 24, 1941

I walked home I took my dress with me. I cleaned the front room did a lot of odd jobs, helped with dinner made a cake, helped plant garden hunted 4 leaf clovers and found three. Walked to town Fanny came, brought me some presents made me feel silly. I went to the dance, danced with Eugene Neil. Lewis Rode to aunt Theresa's and then walked home with grandma.

Friday May 23, 1941

Us kids sluffed all forenoon. We went to the assembly turned in our locks and bobbins. I had soda at noon. Until about two o'clock we practiced again. We rode around the Round Hills coming home. I bathed and got ready for graduation but wasn't at all thrilled. I danced wit Dean S. Bert S. Blaine S. Max C and Boyd M. We left before the dance was out.

Thursday May 22, 1941

We really didn't have much school. I went to town at noon. I talked to Eugene S. I took most of my things out of the locker after school. I did up my hair and wrote to Marvin. Grandma went to Aunt Olives to put on Leota's quilt. I said the prayer in seminary. We got our seminary report cards. Mine was marked A. It is 9:45 now I must prepare for bed.

Wednesday May 21, 1941

I'm in a bad mood so look out. We practiced for graduation all forenoon. Then we missed seminary for senior chorus practice. I went to town at noon and up to FJH after school. In the evening we went to the FJH graduating exercise and to the dance a little while. Marvin sent a card and a nice compact. He can't come. I guess that accounts for my bad mood.

Tuesday May 20, 941

School went as usual. We played inside for Phys. Ed. I collected a few more autographs. The snow melted. I went to town at noon. I brought my end table home. I finished my slip and dress and pressed them. Aunt Hortense Uncle Jade and Lamar came. Grandma went to Salt Lake this morning and hasn't returned yet. It is 9:10. Took Seminary test and got 95% I will return soon.

Monday May 19, 1941

I went to town at noon. It snowed all day. I went to Aunt Theresa's house after school. I paid Gunderson the balance on my table. I mailed my letter to Marvin. We couldn't go outside for Phys Ed. About all we have done is write in Year books. We missed Am Prob. for a senior chorus practice. After school I worked on my dress and got very disgusted.

Sunday May 18, 1941

I went to church rode home, helped with dinner dishes. Practiced my talk. Walked to town wrote to Marvin, made notes of my talk and studied a little. It was very cold.  I was very frightened when I gave my talk but people told me I did good. We had to come home in a regular blizzard. Uncle Fred and Aunt Vina went with us. I went to Aunt Theresa' and helped tend Steven Uncle Reece brought us home.

Saturday May 17, 1941

I walked home did the washing with help and mopped the kitchen did my hair. Got as brown as and Indian especially my hands, arms and leg, walked to town bathed and got ready went to the dance. Danced with Eugene S and Glen R. Sare (?) Adele Tidwell She wasn't with Hosea. The folks were there a little while. I walked home with grandma.

Friday May 16, 1941

We had an assembly and got our Year books they are quite nice. I varnished my table again. We missed Home Ec. for a N.Y.A picture and lecture. I dressed and went outside for Phys Ed. and showered. I went up to FJH after school. I got a letter from Marvin. I was more thrilled over it than the year-book. We went up to town and back to Aunt Theresa's. Uncle Jack, Aunt Hortense and Goldie have been here.

Thursday May 15, 1941

We missed last class for senior chorus practice. I puttied my table. I went to town at noon. I dressed for Phys Ed and went outside. Went up to FJH after school. I helped with the quilting, supper, did dishes and studied. I went over to Seminary and read my talk to all during Home Ec Class. Uncle Jack and Aunt Hortense Darell and Lannar (?) just left it is 25 to 10.

Wednesday May 14, 1941

I varnished my end table today. We missed Home Ec for senior chorus practice. I went to town at noon and up to FJH after school. I went to Edith's for Birthday supper and then came down and helped put on Leota's quilt and mark it. I brought my books home and intended to study but haven't time now. It is 9:40. I am tired and sleepy (I write that nearly every night)

Tuesday May 13, 1941

We missed shop class for senior chorus practice. We voted at noon. I went to town I wen up to FJH after school. I studied and almost finished one unit. I missed 3 in the Am Prob. test. I forgot about my talk now probably won't recall what I knew last night. I checked my seminary journal. It is 9:15. This filling in my tooth is threatening to fall out I wonder what will happen next.

Monday May 12, 1941

School as usual I went to town at noon. We had a stint from each party. I wrote to Marvin and tried to memorize my talk and did pretty well. Then we had a game of cards. Aunt Theresa brought the baby over and I played with him a minute. We helped with Rubarb pie during Home Ec. I paid for both my diploma's today. We went out and played softball during Phys Ed. and what do you know I can actually hit the ball now.

Sunday May 11, 1940

I woke up on the train. When we got to Fairview I came down to grandma's and changed shoes then walked home and slept till noon. I helped with dinner dishes then came to town with the folks all of grandma's kids were here today after they left we went over to Uncle Phil's for supper and then went to the show and saw "Little Nellie Kelly" again. I cried a much as the first time. It made me think of Marvin.

Saturday May 10, 1941

I walked home moped the kitchen then came to town and got ready and went to the depot. Daddy, Marietta and Evelyn went with me Marvin met us at the depot and took us for a grand ride almost all over the city. When the folks left us we took a ride on an elevator in Hotel (?) New House went to Liberty Park and window shopping. It was so much fun and was over too quick. I got my ring back I daren't write what I'd like to.

Friday May 9, 1941

We went to Moroni for district day. I wouldn't have went only the chorus had to sing. I went with Edith only spent 5 cents. Leah wasn't there. Us kids got left and rode with some young ladies to Mt. Pleasant and then came from there here with the bankers. We bottle beer Mrs. Peacock came and we walked down with her. My pen had be washed and won't write very dark. (the ink is light)

Thursday May 8, 1941

Yesterday I forgot to say Owen Stewart made my drawer for me. I went to town at noon and up to FJH after school. We had a lecture from AC during am prob. I did up my hair pressed some dresses and sewed on my dress. I have it all done but the slip now. I am tired it is 9:30.

Wednesday May 7, 1941

We had short classes and senior chorus practice. I went to town at noon and up to FJH after school. Morris brought me a letter from Marvin. I studied and sewed a little but didn't accomplish much in either. It seems like I don't accomplish much in anything anymore. I forgot all about my talk and each day brings something new to worry about but it will always be that way so I had better get used to it. It i 9 o'clock.

Tuesday May 6, 1941

We had short classes and a senior chorus practice. I started on my drawer in shop. We had Ra Nies birthday party Dora brought cake. It was my disaission (?) in Am. Prob. I went to town at noon. I didn't dress for Phys Ed but went outside anyway. After school I organized my talk and sewed a very little on my dress. It is 9:15 now. My throat feels a little sore. I hope I haven't got sinusitis.

Monday May 5, 1941

Nothing unusual. I mailed my letter to Marvin. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I studied sewed and ironed my gym blouse. Just because I want to go to Salt Lake my pimples seem to be getting worse. Grandma gave me 50 cents to get a necklace but I gave it back. It would be some thing to keep it after boarding here all winter for nothing. It is 9:10 now. I am rather tired but I can't say I've done any thing.

Sunday May 4, 1941

I went to church, rode home, ironed a shirt, helped with dishes. Rode to Ephraim cleaned a little in Melvin's flat and then came back to grandma's. I did up my hair wrote to Marvin. In the evening we went over and tended Steven until almost 12 o'clock. I am tired and sleepy. I got a little more on my talk Mom was here to see grandma and we rode over there with the folks and back with Uncle Russ.

Saturday May 3, 1941

I didn't go home. I sewed on my dress. Washed pressed and patched clothes. Washed my hair and did it up bathed cleaned shoes etc. In the evening I went to the dance. I danced with Neil S. The lights went off two or three times I didn't have any fun. Leah and Chester were there. I got home and to bed before 12:30.

Friday May 2, 1941

Just an old school day. We rode to school in the creek bus. I went to town and up to F.J.H after school. I got a letter from Marvin. Christie and Alice were absent. I mowed the lawn studied and sewed on my dress. Mr. Anderson assigned me a talk or seminary graduation. It is 9:20 now. I am rather tired and very sleepy as usual. I have a lot of things to see to before 3 weeks is up (and then what)

Thursday May 1, 1941

We had short classes and an assembly there wasn't many to class. We decided definitely not to go to Richfield. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. The kids had brought my hat the pass etc. down here Morris came with me to get the pass. The fashion show was fairly good. Christie and Leah were absent. I sent Leota's housecoat home. It was May day here. We got a school paper. It is 9:20. I sewed on my dress.

Wednesday April 30, 1941

We missed AM Probs and went down to Sing at Wasatch. We practiced the fashion show at during Home Ec. I made programs during Phys Ed. I went to town at noon. Leota bought me a bar. I went up to F.J.H after school. They have decided to take us to Richfield after all. After school I studied . I wonder when I will ever get at my dress again. It is 9:25 now. I am ready for bed.

Tuesday April 29 1941

We had short classes and extra period. We made girl's day programs during it and Phys Ed class. I went to town and up to F.J.H after school. We made cookies in Home Ec. I got some mail from a college and the mutual officers. Tonight is the closing Mutual I think. It is nine o'clock I thought I could study and sew on my dress but we had company and I didn't get either done.

Monday April 28, 1941

School again as usual.  I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. Aunt Theresa was here when I came from school. I studied at little then I went to the concert n Mt. Pleasant. I saw Mrs. Winkler. I mailed my letter to Marvin. I got home at about 10:30. It was a good day. We went outside for Phys Ed and had fun.

Sunday April 27, 1941

I got up and rushed off to conference only half ready. I helped with dinner dishes brought in folded and sprinkled clothes and ironed. I walked to town and then wrote to Marvin. I was going to the afternoon session but it was raining so I gave it up. It is nine o'clock now. I am rather tired for Sunday - I wonder what punishment I get for working on Sunday.

Saturday April 26, 1941

I got up and did an enormous washing, mopped the kitchen. We went to Mt. Pleasant then I came down to grandma's and bathed. I had planned on going to the dance but was too tired. I don't know what the kids will do when I don't come. It will probably be a good dance just because I'm not going. It is almost nine o'clock now.

Friday April 25, 1941

I went early to take some cookies and bread to the bus for Melvin. I mailed him his NYA check. Lauson picked me up so I had a long wait before the HS bus came. I went to town at noon. Leota bought me a bar. I helped with programs during Phys Ed. We cooked meat in Home Ec. Alice and Leah were both absent. I didn't go to seminary. Gunderson wasn't there today. It was the Hamilton School Operetta but I didn't go. Have carried wash water.

Thursday April 24, 1941

I walked to school and went to town at noon. At 2:30 we went to Moroni with an assembly program. We got back too later for us to ride so I had to walk part way home then Val and Grant picked me up. I got a letter from Marvin. I helped with dishes, swept the kitchen, churned and worked up the butter, carried water, made peanut butter cookies and other jobs. It is 720 now I am rather tired.

Wednesday April 23, 1941

I walked to school as usual. I went to town at noon. We had a frozen malt. Seymour wasn't to school. Mrs. Darly taught us. Moroni brought over the assemble programs. After school I did up my hair. We went outside for Phys Ed. It is 8:10 My throat feels a little better tonight but I am going to retire early just the same. We haven't heard from grandma yet. I am worried.

Tuesday April 22, 1941

I left in time to send some bread and doughnuts to ?(Mel or Mar) on the Snow Bess. I walked down with daddy and Berthel. I went to town at noon and had a malt. I mailed my card to grandma. After school I ironed and listened to the radio. My throat is still soar. I think I will do something about it and then get to bed as soon as possible as I am rather tired and sleepy. the weather was fair. We went outside for Phys Ed and played ball.

Monday April 21, 1941

I walked to school. I wore my m___? shoes. I mailed my letter to Tom and Marvin and a card to grandma. I went to town at noon. I dressed for Phys Ed. In the evening we listed to "The Letter" on the Lux Theater. After school I made a twice doubled recipe of doughnuts. They turned out good I was very pleased over them. Now that I am used to being home and have more of my things up here I like it better. Well I still have a few more things to do and then I will retire. Henry Mills died today I wrote and told grandma.

Sunday April 20, 1941

I can't say that I have did much today. Went to church did dinner dishes, wrote to grandma, Tom and Marvin. Did up my hair Wen came his mother is very ill. Donna and Faun came Leota went up there Marietta has gone to the show with Robert Mom went to meeting today.  It is good to see her able to go some places. Leota and I had a walk. Another week ahead of awful beds walks to school and noisy Indians. It is 8:50

Saturday April 19, 1941

I got up and walked home with very little to eat. I didn't get recooperated until afternoon then I made cookies and mopped the kitchen. Marietta and Evelyn went to grandma's with me. She didn't come home. Some one came for me and thought I was Leota (enough said I don't care to remember the incident) I didn't have any fun to the dance. We left before it was quite out. I was very glad to get to bed. We stayed at Grandma's. Pen is empty.

Friday April 18, 1941

Mom called me at 5 o'clock there weren't any lights so I had to dress in the dark. I went to grandma's and made a fire got ready and went down to the Senior Breakfast - at nine we left for Ephraim. We bummed around a lot. I lost my ticket and had to go to Tibbetts for another. They served a good lunch, the assembly was fair the weather cold. The show was "Over the Moon" and "Our Town" they were quite tiresome. We had a malt at Shirley's compliments of the city. I danced with Max Aurie and with Melvin. I was too tired for fun I slept at grandma's alone.

Thursday April 17, 1941

I went to the store with Leota and stayed a little while and then went on to school. Christie and Leah were absent. I went to town at noon with Alice. I got a letter from Marvin (It had come yesterday) and one from Tom we also got a card from grandma and I wrote one back. I did up my hair. In the evening Uncle Raldo, Aunt Ruth and O Leah (?) came. I went to bed early.

Wednesday April 16, 1941

I walked to town and went down to Grandma's and changed clothes. It has been very stormy all day. We didn't have phys Ed. I was glad for that I went to town at noon. After school I went down to the store and waited for Leota to get off work. We walked part way down to Ada's and then Wen picked us up. I did Leota's hair a little for her. We went to bed at about 10:30 I slept alone on the studio couch. I like Ada and enjoyed my visit very much. It made me want a husband and a home more than ever (confidential don't read)

Tuesday April 15, 1941

I had to walk to school this morning. I went to town at noon I mailed my card to grandma. I dressed for Phys Ed. I did up my hair, sprinkled the clothes and did the ironing after school. It is nine o'clock now I am very tired I must get to bed as soon as possible. Why do my memories embarrass me so (never mind that.) I think it is raining outside but it has been a fairly good day.

Monday April 14, 1941

Lanson gave me a ride to the depot. I went to town at noon. The Bry Fe (?) brought a lyceum at 2:45. We missed seminary. Mr. Anderson isn't back yet. I listened to the Lux Theater. It was good. We are listening to "Blondie and Dagwood" now. It seems a baby girl has joined the family now. I wrote a card to grandma and fixed my dress. I should have did up my hair but no curlers (sorry goodbye now)

Sunday April 13, 1941

I got up at 7:45. Went to church, rode home, had dinner, mopped the kitchen and then got ready. Grandma, Aunt Nora and Uncle Wendell came. Max was with Marvin we went to Moroni and then to Ephraim we had supper in Melvin's flat. Max couldn't find a girl that suited him so we came home early. I got to bed shortly after 12:30. I'll have to watch what I write in here more carefully.

Saturday April 12, 1941

I walked home and helped with the work. Went to Mt. and got my new dress and hat. Bathed and got ready for my date. Nora and Wendell came. Max was with Marvin and we went to Ephraim and then to Manti and run "Lost Horizon" and "the Awful Truth" I went up to bed at 3:10. We couldn't make it any earlier.

Friday April 11, 1941

We had a Snow college program at 1 o'clock. I sewed during shop class and finished grandma's apron. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. After school I sewed a little on my dress and then sewed quilt blocks. Marvin came at about 8:15 We went down to mt. Pleasant depot and climbed on a box car and nearly scared me to death. I got home and to bed by 1:30. It seemed so good to see him again.

Thursday April 10, 1941

I forgot to put that we had our shop dept picture taken for the year book and also the Home Ec girls group. Today I went to town at noon as usual. I started on grandma's other apron. We had Am Prob test I got 35 (39 was highest score) After school I did up my hair and sewed on my dress got more disgusted than ever. We played cards. It is 9:45 I saw Miss Peterson (Hilda) this morning. I am sleepy Goodnight now. I saw Eva's baby.

Wednesday April 9, 1941

We had short classes and an extra period at 9 o'clock they had the school play. I went to Library and wasted time. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school Reva Cox has a baby boy. Alice came to school for the play. Uncle Phil put a night lock on Grandma's door today. I wrote to Marvin and mailed it at noon. I've worried about ever since for fear it was too cold but I just wasn't in the letter writing mood. Now if he don't come it will be my fault and I'll feel all the worse.

Tuesday April 8, 1941

I got a little more done on my shop project. I went to town and up to F.J.H. I went up to mutual and got my letter from Marvin. It made me happy. We worked around the lot after school and I studied. I called to the cafe for grandmother on my way from mutual. Leota and Wendell have set the day but she wouldn't tell me when and I musn't tell any one else. I don't know whether to be happy or not over several things.

Monday April 7, 1941

It seemed funny to go to school on Monday. We had an assembly from the A E (?). It was very good. After school I went home and ironed. I did up my hair and studied wrote to Tom after I walked back down. I went to town at noon. I wondered why Marvin didn't write. It was a little better weather. I dressed and went outside for Phys Ed. It was Clifton's birthday and I hardly gave him any special attention. It is 9:30 now am tired.

Sunday April 6, 1941

I went to church. There wasn't many there. I walked home brought in the clothes, folded and sprinkled them. I ironed two shirts for Melvin and looked for pictures for am Prob. Mom had lots of company, grandma came. I rode down with them. We went over to Aunt Hortenses and up to Aunt Theresa's. I should have studied but I didn't. It is 9:40 now I am tired and sleepy for no reason at all.

Saturday April 5, 1941

I started to walk home but Melvin picked me up and I rode back to town and then home. Melvin was in a wreck last night but wasn't hurt. Evelyn was washing so I helped. I cleaned the bedroom and mopped the kitchen. I did up my hair bathed and ironed a dress. I got a letter from Tom and was certainly surprised. Nora and Wen came I should have studied but haven't. I wanted to to a dance but there isn't one tonight.

Friday April 4, 1941

We had short classes and an assembly. It was Freshie day. Tonight is the Freshie Hop. They had us wear green F's with an invitation on them. Edith and Leah were absent. I went to town at noon. I mailed my letter to Marvin. After school I washed, ironed and patched some clothes. i washed my hair. Grandma went to a Banquet. Sue Del (?) visited me for a little while. It is 9:20.

Thursday April 3, 1941

I can't think of much to write. I answered Marvin's letter. Leah was absent. I worked a little on my graduation dress and got awfully discouraged. I've felt dumpish all day.  We put the beer down cellar. It is 8:50 I am tired and sleepy and not in at all high spirits. This is one of those times when it seems to me I have little to look forward to.

Wednesday April 2, 1941

School went as usual. I went to town at noon. It was a fairly good day until school let out and then it rained, snowed etc. I studied and we bottled beers. I forgot to write yesterday that Otto has quite driving the bus and the Spring City bus takes his beat. We have been playing cards. It is nine o'clock now I am sleepy. I don't know when I will ever get started on my graduation dress again.

Tuesday April 1, 1941

We had short classes and an assembly in the morning. We had Phys Ed and then went to a show. It was "The Case of the Black Parrot" It was a good mystery. It snowed nearly all day. I went up home and did the ironing. I was not feeling so good or something anyway I was so cross I was ashamed. When I had walked back to town I did up my hair. It is 9:10 now. I am ready for bed. I am quite tired.

Monday March 31, 1941

I went to town and bought some soap then rode up on the creek bus, made bread and did the washing, mopping, brought in the clothes, folded and sprinkled them. I walked to town. I was very tired and so first set around and played cards all evening. I got a letter from Marvin. It was a fairly good day there was a nice breeze. It is 9:15 now. I am sleepy and ready for bed.

I went to church as usual. Helped a little up home. Rode to the airport with the folks and then came home read and played cards. I don't know what is the matter with me I feel so cross I'm actually ashamed. I hope I soon get over it. It is 9:30 now. I well be retiring very soon. Frankly, I can't help but be sharp under the circumstances.

Saturday March 29, 1941

I walked up home for dinner. Helped with dishes, did up my hair made toss cakes, bathed Clifton and Dovell, Helped with supper and did odd jobs. Marietta came down with me. It was raining. We rode with a man we didn't even know. We got ready and went to the dance. I danced with Bud P. Dean I. Max C. Mont Kellet and another Mr. Peterson. I walked home with Beth Paramaine and Lu Dean. It was awfully rainy.

Friday March 28, 1941

We had short afternoon classes and an assembly. We went outside for Phys Ed. and to town at noon. I got excused from Seminary and went to town with Leah. Dan Rasmussenn was our teacher. After school I washed some accessories and played cards. My mind is wandering so that I can't hardly write. It is 7:15. I ought to do up my hair.

Thursday March 27, 1941

We missed seminary for a lyceum from the Bry To (?) But it wasn't any good. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I wrote to Marvin. We had the am Prob. test. I only missed one. Grandma went up home today. We got our report cards. Shop A chorus B+ am Prob. A Phys Ed A- Sewing A. Terry always spoils my record. It was a warm day we went outside for Phys Ed. I did the 50 yd dash in 9 1/4 sec. which is pretty good without practice.

Wednesday March 26, 1941

I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school as usual. Leota has German measles so I could not go home and iron as I had planned. I washed pressed and sewed clothes all evening. We tried high jumping in Phys. Ed. and I've surely got a nice back-ache. My pen is too full I doubt if this is readable (But after all is any of my scribbling?) It is 8:45 I am preparing for bed.

Tuesday March 25, 1941

School went as usual I went to town at noon but didn't see Leota as she was home ill. I got some table covers for grandma. It was still stormy. I went up to F.J.H but the bus was leaving. I rather dreaded it, but I went to Mutual anyway. I was so scared I read my story too fast. When I got home (I didn't stay for class-work) we went over to Cheney's and stayed till 11 o'clock.

Monday March 24, 1941

I rode home on the creek bus and did the washing, dishes and mopped but it was too stormy to bring up the clothes. I got a letter form Marvin. I was quite honery all day. It made me rather ashamed but seemed like I couldn't help it. Hannah brought down some soup. Morris was home with the tooth ach. I walked to town and was very tired. I wore by boots all day. In the evening we played cards.

Sunday March 23, 1941

I went to church and walked home with Marietta. La Preal asked me to give a story in mutual. I couldn't refuse. The folks had made ice cream. Grandma and Nora and Uncle Wendel came up. I hunted for a story but that is about all. I rode down with grandma and theirs. In the evening we went over and stayed with Steven until after ten. I was almost unbearably sleepy before I got to bed.

Saturday March 22, 1941

I walked up home, scrubbed the porch, mopped the kitchen, studied and monkeyed around. We started to Mt. Pleasant but met Leota and Wendell so came back. I bathed and shined shoes. Aunt Nora and Uncle Wendle came. I got ready and went to the dance. I danced with Melvin, Bud B., Neil S., Eugene S., Johnny C., Mondele, Nolan S. and Dean S. Marietta and Evelyn didn't come. I walked up a ways to meet them I had fun walked home alone.

Friday March 21, 1941

We had short classes and an assembly. I went to town at noon and got me some powder and lotion. Daddy came and took mom home. I did up my hair. We went over to Aunt Theresa's and spent the evening. Grandma is here but I guess the folks up home are happy. I got Leota a ticket for the M. Men and G. Girl banquet she is going with Wendel of course.

I cut out my apron today. Went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. Dovell is still sick. When I got home I washed and ironed some clothes and I wrote Marvin. Ethel Mower (?) brought some ice cream. I studied. Ironed and sewed up some clothes.

Wednesday March 19, 1941

School went as usual. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. In the evening I went to a three-act play in the North Ward. The kids brought my letter from Marvin. I worked on my baby book. Aunt Theresa had Steven here and I held him a little while. Poor Dovell is sick it worries me with no one very responsible to take care of her.

Tuesday March 18, 1941

I went to school as usual. Went to town at noon. After school I went up home did the ironing and rode down with dad. I studied a little. We went outside for Phys. Ed. today. My back aches a little. Dr. Madsen too mom's drain out today but says she can't go home for a few days. Daddy is here now. Things up home are in as bad a condition up home as ever makes my heart ache.

Monday March 17, 1941

I didn't get much sleep up home. I got up at about 7(?) o'clock and started to wash I made bread did dishes mopped ect. I didn't have such an iniscense (?) washing but was very tired when it was finished. I walked to town. Uncle Hill and Mac came ward teachings. The subject was secret Prayer and was very inspiring. I was to quit thinking of someone so much but I guess I haven't had time to get out of the habit I am very sleepy.

Sunday March 16, 1941

I had to bath before church then I went home and did up my hair. I rode back down with Dad and played paper doll with Dovell. I fixed one of Leota's dresses to wear. When Marvin came we had some ice cream. We were still here when the bishopric came so made a quick exit. We went to Moroni and back twice. We saw "Play girl" and "Nellie Kelly" they were both good shows. I got to bed before 3:00. I was very puzzled but that don't matter.

Saturday March 15, 1941

I walked home, made some short cake and monkeyed around but didn't accomplish much. I rode Mt. Pleasant and back with the folds (?).  Aunt Nora and Uncle Wess came. I was waiting on mom and here came Marvin I was certainly surprised. I wasn't bathed or anything but we went to "Love Thy Neighbor" in Mt. Pleasant. I got home at about 2:30 I had fun.

Friday March 14, 1941

It was a commercial contest at N.S. (?) today. I saw Laurel Olsen but she didn't seem to recognize me. I went to town at noon and bought Aunt Hortense some stockings. I studied. Dad came. Grandma went to the F.J.H opera. I got mom ready for bed. I mailed my letter to Marvin. It is nine o'clock now. I must prepare myself for retirement and a dreary week end.

Thursday March 13, 1941

I went to town at noon as usual and saw Leota. My side didn't hurt today. Wrote to Marvin. Most of the school went to a band-sponsored show but I sewed and didn't go to seminary Leah was absent. I walked to town after school with Lavell while we were waiting for the others to come from the show. I should study but it is 8:30 and by that time I am too sleepy to start on anything. Mom is still improving from all indications.

Wednesday March 12, 1941

It is Alice's birthday. I cut out my dress today. I saw Leota at noon. I had a creamsicle. We went to Alice's for birthday supper. It was very good we had fun I bought some stationary. Daddy came down. Mom set up for a while. I studied. It is after nine o'clock now. I am tired and sleepy. My side still hurts. It worries me. I would sure like to have just a little more money but it is doing me good to learn economy I guess.

Tuesday March 11, 1941

School much as usual. I had a side ache all day. Went to town and saw Leota at noon. After school I ironed. I ran part way home and then Frances Graham picked me up. I was tired and cold when I got here and my side hurt. Mom still feels good. It is close to mine o'clock now. My lessons are going begging but I'm going to bed. Mom sit up a half hr. today.

Monday March 10, 1941

I have made bread, did the washing I washed 4 blankets. Brought in the clothes folded and sprinkled then made all the beds changed pillow cases, mopped the kitchen, ironed a few pieces walked to town saw Alice and Leah on the way, washed my hair and did it up, am very tired. I got a letter from my Marvin. It is almost nine o'clock now. I hope I can sleep better than I did last night.

Sunday March 9, 1941

I went to church, helped with dinner, took a walk, carried wash water, made yeast and cake. It has been very windy but the sun shone. I've washed dishes till I'm almost black in the face. I churned a little. Weydell and Robert are here. I am lonesome for somebody. Well a hard day ahead tomorrow. Must get some rest. I'm so tired I ached now. But I won't complain as long as mom's improving.

Saturday March 8, 1941

I went home and sewed on Marietta's dress and feel bad because it didn't look like I wanted it to. I did dishes the rest of the day except for a few odd jobs. I gathered up some of my belongings and rode to "Hub" and back to grandma's. I bathed and got ready for the dance. Marietta and Evelyn came for me. I wore my long dress. I dance with Eugene, Glen r. Jewel Rand, bud. I went home with Eugene. Went up to the viaduct. Had the nose bleed just as we got home. I got to bed before two o'clock.

Friday March 7, 1941

School went as usual. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. Marietta came down and tried on her dress and I had to do it all over and made a mess of it. The Dr. Came and daddy. I'm kinda worried and lonesome or something. But I'm still glad about mom and sorry for the kids and daddy. I mailed my letter to Marvin. Sometimes (I must admit) I miss him so terribly.

Thursday March 6, 1941

We had short classes and an assembly. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school mom still feels good. Dovell was down here all day. I wrote to Marvin and tried to study. I sewed on Marietta's dress but I'm not at all pleased about it. the Dr. hasn't even come to see mom yet we can't imagine why. It is good to be back in town but I miss the kids a lot and worry about them.

Wednesday March 5, 1941

We took the AM Prob. test, got 33 out of 39. Went to town at noon as usual. I came down here to grandma's after school. Brought in coat (?) went to town helped with dishes and tried to study. I was thrilled beyond words to have mom here and feeling good. It is almost nine o'clock now Leota came. I feel so bad for her and for all the kids up home. If it was not for worrying about them I would be content.

Tuesday March 4, 1941

School as usual. Went to town at noon. I bought soup. When I got home from school I did the ironing and then worked on Marietta's dress. I got a letter from Marvin. It is almost 10 now I am waiting for the kids to come home from mutual so I can ask Marietta's advice on her dress. I am getting to like it up home here so I think I can stand it this summer. I am rather tired and sleepy.

Monday March 3, 1941

I did the washing, made bread and cookies. Brought the clothes in folded them up and sprinkled them for ironing. Helped with dishes carried water etc. I am very tired. We listed to "My Bill" on the Lux Theater and now it's Blondie and Dagwood. It is almost nine o'clock now. I really should study but I'm too exhausted now. I'll be glad to get back to normal.

Sunday March 2, 1941

I got up about 8:45 I mopped the kitchen helped with dinner, studied got supper, made yeast, carried washwater and did dishes. Put the kids to bed and a doz. odd jobs. I bathed. Dad, Melvin, Mets, Lin and Morris went to the city on the train. I did the separating, Berthel milked. It is 9:50 now. Wess is here I chose (?) kids made divinity. I am tired.

Saturday March 1, 1941

I got up at 5:00 and helped cut out Marietta's dress and get Melvin and Leota off to work. I rested and then spent most of the day sewing. I bathed the little kids and got them to bed. Daddy came home with good news. Zadia (?) came down to make buns. I am literally exhausted and rather bewildered. The girls have gone to the dance but I'm too tired. I can't stand this much longer.

Friday February 28, 1941

I had to run most of the way to school. I got breakfast and all my usual morning chores. I went to town at noon. After school I mopped the kitchen and did up my hair. We were going to cut out Marietta's dress. But she got on her high horse or something and acted as onry as the devil. So we had a family row and made all of ourselves sick and the dress isn't cut out.

Thursday February 27, 1941

We had an extra class in the afternoon. I sewed. We went outside during Phys. Ed. I went to town at noon. After school I cleaned in the separation room helped with dishes wrote to mama and Marvin. I am tired but haven't done half as much as I should. Weather is clear and cold. I have a nice cold too and don't feel so spry as a result but if I keep this well I won't complain.

Wednesday February 26, 1941

I got up and bathed Dovell, got ready and walked to school. I gave the debate in American Problems. Went to town at noon. I got a letter from Marvin and we got a card from Dad. Uncle Henry came up he was quite encouraged about mom and so are we all. There was a horse in the middle of Main st. so the bus had to go around the block. After school I did the ironing. Aunt Ruth came up.

Tuesday February 25, 1941

(?) gave me a ride to the depot so I was to town early. I've had the heart-ache all day and couldn't sleep last night. After school I ironed a little, pressed Melvin's pants mopped the kitchen and tried to study but couldn't. I don't honestly know what is going to become of me (I mean us.) We got a letter from dad. I won't give up. It is nine o'clock. Another week like this and I fear I'll have one foot in the grave.

Monday February 24, 1941

I got up did the washing, carried water etc. made bread cleaned house. Was so tired I cried. Us kids were all quarrelsome. We must all of us be more considerate Zelda especially but no one would ever guess how hard it is to put up with what we have here. Wenn came with Leota We listened to "The Whole Town is Talking." My thumb still hinders my writing.

Sunday February 23, 1941

I went to church, sluffed classes to get some clothes at grandma's. Marvin came at about two o'clock we went to "She Couldn't Say No" in Mt. Pleasant. Marvin has that awful picture of me I couldn't get it from him. I am lonesome. I carried the wash water and otherwise puttered around. Glen and Robert are here and I can't think intelligently.

Saturday February 22, 1941

I got up and had breakfast took the eggs to the store and then moved up home. I cleaned house and washed and ironed some clothes. I did up my hair it was a sunny day and the kids could play outdoors my thumb is still sore. Marvin came at about 7:45. Daddy came too. We went to Moroni but there wasn't a show so we went back. I acted rather silly.

I saw Marvin at school and rode to school with him. I went up to the depot and saw the folks off. Marvin came at about 7:30. We went to "Dr. Kildare's Crisis" in Hub. I went to bed before two o'clock. I did the chicken chores and all the usual things. I bathed. I cute my thumb a little and so can't write very good. I am happy.

Thursday February 20, 1941

Nothing very different. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I rode from there down here with Eugene and some other fellows and then went down and did the chicken chores. I tended baby a little and studied. I mailed my letter to Marvin. It is about 7:40 now. Mom and Dad are going to Salt Lake tomorrow. The baby has been cross today. I paid my chorus fee.

Wednesday February 19, 1941

School went as usual. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I got Grandma's mail and did the chores down there for her and brought some more of my things up here. I wrote a letter to Marvin. It makes me lonesome. I really worked a little in shop. Aunt Theresa has gone for a little walk just now and I am alone with the baby and my thoughts which are of mother and another whose name starts with the same letter. I saw Eugene at noon.

Tuesday February 18, 1941

I walked to school from home in a snowstorm. We had an extra period and I ate my lunch before noon. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school and then came down to Aunt Theresa's tended baby a little helped with dishes and did up my hair. I mailed the letter to Grandma. I don't know if I have chosen the best way or not but does me ever.

Monday February 17, 1941

I got up and went home before daylight (Aunt Theresa took me over to her place in the night). Grandma stayed because Aunt (?) is ill. School went as usual I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I'm having an awful time. I've tried three pens. I got a letter from Marvin and wrote to Grandma. Edith went with me to do the chores after school and then I walked as far as her place with her and came on up home. It is 7:45 now. I am very tired. I cut out Clifton's shirts.

I did dishes made the bed got ready and went to church. rode home. helped with dishes, mopped kitchen, washed woodwork and glass. rode to town. washed head and did up hair. washed and ironed nearly all my washables. Am very tired it is 9:40 grandma went to Salt Lake with Uncle Reece and Aunt Theresa. She hasn't returned. am worried and a little frightened. Had company up home. no milk yet.

Saturday February 15, 1941

I got up and did up my hair and hurried home. I did too many things to mention but I didn't waste one minute of time. I road to "Hub." Mom saw Doc and it means an operation. I bathed and went to the dance. I danced with Leon Brady, Lloyd Barton, Jewel Rigby and John Carlson. It is raining I had a chance to come home with Lloyd. I almost wish I had.  

Friday February 14, 1941

We had short classes and an assembly. I went to town at noon and for a little walk without my coat. I went up to F.J.H after school. I sewed on my dress. It scares me to death for fear it won't look good. It is nine o'clock now. I am lonesome for some me. (not mentioning any names of course.)

Thursday February 13, 1941

We missed seminary for a lyceum. It was a fellow who went with the second Byrd expedition to the South Pole. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school but the kids were already gone. I mailed my letter to Marvin. In the evening we went over to Aunt Theresa's. I should have studied but didn't. It is 10 o'clock.

Wednesday February 12, 1941

I ate my lunch in the extra period again. We had the Am Prob. test but it isn't corrected. I wrote a letter to Marvin and finished basting the ribbon on my gores. It is 9:15. It has snowed today. Leah and Edith had another quarrel at noon.

Tuesday February 11, 1941

I ate my lunch in the extra period and got my letter at noon. I checked my unit 8 in Am Prob. after school. I sewed. Grandma went up home today she says mom is better. I played cards a little while as usual. I went up to F.J.H. and down town. I have the ribbon basted onto gores now.

Monday February 10, 1941

We had study instead of chorus. I went to town at noon and talked to Leota about mama. I studied and sewed on my dress after school. I found out I haven't enough ribbon. My legs ache. I told grandma about mom and we had a funeral. We listened to "The moon is our Home" on the Linx Theater. We played one game of cards and had some beer (?). It is 9:15 now.

I got up and watched Steven have his bath and then came home and went to church. I didn't go Home. I washed and ironed some clothes. I did up my hair and sewed on my graduation dress. I'm awfully worried about mama. I have been counting the weeks until I will be out of school so I can help her. It is 7:35 I suppose I will play cards till bed time.

Saturday February 8, 1941

I walked home, rested and sewed a little on my graduation dress. I came down to the depot and rested in the car and then rode to town and sewed a little more. I bathed and got ready for the dance. We went over to Aunt Theresa's and I went to the dance from there. I danced with Evelyn and Marietta, It was a poor dance and I was disappointed. We slept at Aunt Theresa's. Mother is sick. It worries me to death.

Friday February 7, 1941

Not much school because of the Prom tonight. We had a record in seminary. Edith is expelled again. I went to town at noon. I paid Alice the 10 cents we owed the "phone" company and Leah the quarter for Christie's present. It was her birthday today. I handed in my proof for the year book. The Juniors put on an assembly. We got a school paper. I washed and ironed some clothes. It is 7:30 now. I may play cards.

Thursday February 6, 1941

After I wrote in my diary last night I mopped the kitchen and straightened the front room. Today I have helped Leota cut out my dress for graduation. I helped with dishes did a lot of complaining. At about 6 I walked to town with Faun. I haven't done much since I got here. I have read a story and got ready for bed. It is 8 o'clock now. Daddy has a new boss. Mrs. Tucker and Ann Dale came.

Wednesday February 5, 1941

My tooth still ached. I ate my lunch in the extra period. Leah and I got excused at 1 o'clock and I went to the dentist it wasn't as bad as I expected. I went up to school and sewed. I finished Leota's house coat. I spent all noon hr. watching Edith try on dresses. I came up home on the bus. Mom and Dad have gone to Salt Lake City. I got a letter from Marvin and answered it. It is 7:40 now. I don't feel so good yet not so bad.

Tuesday February 4, 1941

My tooth has still ached I went to town at noon and Alice and Chester took me to the dentist but he wasn't in or my tooth would probably be out by now. After school I went to the store with Alice and met grandma and then to Aunt Theresa's. I did up my hair and played cards. Marietta and Evelyn came and brought me money to have my tooth pulled. I'm dreading tomorrow.

I had the tooth ach in the night and nearly all day. I see tough going ahead. This can't keep up and to have it pulled is no picnic. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H. after school. In the evening I studied and listened to "Rebecca" on the Lux Radio hour.

I went to church and walked home. I hunted pictures and then rode back with Ramsey to town. I did some chores and we bottled beans then played cards. Melvin was here for a while. It was Evelyn's birthday. The kids went to the show.

Saturday February 1, 1941

I did up my hair and walked home. I finished my book. I ironed with the stove irons until time to go to the depot. From there I rode to "Hub" and back. I bathed and got ready for the dance. I danced with Eugene about 3 times, Wendal Bird O. and a Don Taylor. I came home with Eugene we were stalled and I didn't get home till about 3 o'clock. I think I am cured for good now.

We had an assembly program. Alice and Leah were absent. I went up to F.J.H after school and to town at noon. I studied at the library and got "The Mother" by Pearl S. Buck. I have been reading it ever since. It is nine o'clock now. I mailed my letter to Marvin this morning. I have such a funny feeling lately that sometimes it scares me.

I cut out Leota's house coat today. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. Alice was absent. I wrote to Marvin and studied. I dressed for Phys. Ed. and showered. We had an extra period and at my lunch during it. I bought Edith a bar at noon. I am rather lonesome, anyway I feel kind of funny could it be my letter writing. We listened to most of major Bowes. Grandma made her new kitchen transom curtains today.

I ate my lunch in the extra period and spent all noon hr. in town. I finished Leota's apron today. I went up to F.J.H after school. I cut an apron pattern for Miss Brinton helped Grandma a little and went to the amateur parade after school. Grandma went over to tend Steven. Daddy is appointed ward clerk. I saw the folks and got my letter from Marvin. It is 11 o'clock now.

Tuesday January 28, 1941

I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H. after school. We got seminary report card (a) we played games in Sem. We had short classes and I ate my lunch during the extra period. Edith and I rode to school with Sheldon. Don and La Vee at noon. During Phys. Ed. we went out and played in the snow. We made a big N.S.H.S and got our feet awfully wet. I got supper and did some ironing. It is 7:15 now. I mailed my letter to Marvin. We saw a car run off the road on the way home.

Monday January 27, 1941

We missed last class for a fish and game short. Terry gave us a good scotch blessing during chorus class. I bought some ink at noon. I saw Leota as usual. I went up to 7.J.H. after school. I wrote a letter to Marvin and washed some clothes. It has been a fair day. We played cards in the evening as usual it is 9:20.

Scotch Blessing?  It means - a tongue lashing, a strong reprimand.

Sunday January 26, 1941

I went to church and to south ward to sing in meeting. I rode home with dad. "Gabby" Laurence Larson talked in the North ward. I rode to town with dad at about four. Aunt Theresa was here when Marvin came. We went to Moroni back to Fairview and then the show in Hub "Third Finger Left Hand" and "Dance Girl Dance"

Saturday January 25, 1941

I walked home, monkeyed around. Walked to the depot and rode to "Hiss"(?) and back. I bathed and got ready for my date. We went to "The Mask of Zorro" at the star it was good. I went to bed at 1:30. We had a sundae at "Spuds." I got a letter from Marvin but it was rather drowned out by the fact that he is here.

Friday January 24, 1941

We had short classes and an assembly program. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I wrote names in the snow. We have about 1 ft. it snowed all day. In the evening we were playing cards when Marvin came. I was certainly pleasantly surprised. We got stuck up by Chanys. Set there a while and then came home.

Thursday January 23, 1941


We got our report cards today. Shop A chorus B am prob. A  Phys. Ed. A Sewing A. We put on the opera in Mt. Pleasant. I went to town at noon and saw the prom dresses. I went up to F. J. H.  after school and then down to aunt Olive's. I had to rush to get up town to leave on the bus. It is 11:20 now. I'm glad the opera is over but it was kinda' fun.

Wednesday January 22, 1941

School was as usual. I went to town and up to F.J.H after school. We put on the opera in the North Ward here this evening. It is 10 to 11 now. I am tired and sleepy as usual. I've most too busy to get lonesome anymore. We had debate during am problems.

Tuesday January 21, 1940

We spent all afternoon on opera preparations and dressed rehearsal for the grade school. I went to town at noon. I got a letter from Marvin. Edith bought me a malt. We put on the opera in Spring City in the evening. I went off fairly well but I'm very tired and sleepy. I answered Marvin's letters. It is 12 o'clock now. I am very sleepy.

Monday January 20, 1941

We missed am Prob. for opera rehearsal. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I did up my hair, washed and ironed some clothes, played cards as usual. Mr. Gunderson treated us to some bars. I paid my shop card today. It is 9 o'clock now. We were going to listen to the Lux Radio hr. but forgot.

Sunday January 19, 1941

I went to church, walked halfway home and then clear back to church after my purse and home again. Listened to the radio and monkeyed around. I walked back to town in the evening. I was very lonesome and didn't even want to play cards but did. I had to wait for a train on my way down. Mets was having a party. Wish I was.

Saturday January 18, 1941

I walked home and back. I rolled and baked a quadruple batch of raisin filled cookies, helped with dishes entertained kids and got supper. Uncle Reece went to Salt Lake we went over to stay with aunt Theresa until 10 o'clock then came home and went to bed.

Friday January 17, 1941

We had an assembly we missed the last two classes for opera practice. I dressed for Phys Ed even if my blouse was home. I went to town and up to 7. jH (?) after school. In the evening we went to Ted Mower's farewell dance. I danced with Del Ray, Jewel, George Holman and Eugene. We had a good visit. I feel so sorry for him but I'm afraid its beyond my power to help.

Thursday January 16, 1941

We missed sewing class for a good lecture. We had a seminary test I got 100% I went to town at noon. Leah was absent. I went up to F.J.H. after school. I did up my hair and wrote to Marvin. It has snowed nearly all day.

Wednesday January, 15, 1941

I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. We are still having opera practice. We stood on the stage 1 1/2 hrs. today I read (?) ma moved the radio in yesterday we listened to it and played cards It is 9:00

Tuesday January 14, 1941

It snowed today. We had an extra class for opera practice as usual. Leah was absent. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. I washed and pressed some clothes.

Monday January 13, 1941

I was ill and missed part of chorus and all of am Prob. I didn't go to town at noon. I got an aspirin from Winona Tucker. I went up home after school on the bus. I got a letter from Marvin I walked back I did up my hair and wrote a letter to Tom. It is 2:30 now. I'll need a magnifying glass to read this. I didn't realize I was writing so small but it is fun.

Sunday January 12, 1941

Went to church stayed for meeting. Fitted Leota's dress swept kitchen. Walked to town. Went to aunt Theresa and studied while grandma tended to Steven. I was lonesome and mad at my pen for this blotch. (see picture)

Saturday January 11, 1941

I walked home and back to the depot. Rode to "blurb" (?) and back. did my hair up bathed and odd jobs. I went to Dale Rigby's farewell.  I danced with Bud O. (?) Grandma went with me.

Friday January 10, 1941

We saw a robin today. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school.  I washed my hair and played cards. I mailed my letter to Marvin. We had an assembly program. It is 9:30.

Thursday January 9, 1941

Nothing unusual except a letter from Marvin which I answered. I went to town at noon and up to F.J.H after school. We played cards in the evening.

Wednesday January 8, 1941

Went to town at noon and up to F.J.H afterschool. I saw Eugene at noon. In the evening we played cards. It is 9:05

Tuesday, January 7, 1941

Went to town at noon up to FJH after school. Went to Cheney's again. In the evening I studied and played cards. It is 8:50.

Monday January 6, 1941

School the same. Started on Leota's dress. I stopped at Cheney's to do some business for daddy. In the evening we played cards. Leah came, we studied and visited. It is 9:00.

Sunday January 5, 1941

Went to church rode home. Rode back with Wess. Saw "Young People" and "South of Pago Pago" inblub (?) with Marvin. Had cake at Era's in Moroni. Went to bed before 2:30.

Saturday January 4, 1941

I walked home and back. Did up my hair, hemmed a dress for Leota and read.  In the evening I washed some clothes out and bathed.

Friday January 3, 1941

I ironed and helped undeck the tree. Athene came over in the evening. Marvin gave her a ride on our way up home to play cards with Leota and Wess. I retired 2:00.

Thursday, January 2, 1941

Grandma went to Salt Lake. I did the washing and mopped the kitchen. Walked home and back to depot then rode to "blurb" (?) came home and read. It is 9:25 now.

Wednesday, January 1, 1941

I went home, played cards, walked back. Went to "Bittersweet" in Mt. Pleasant with Marvin. Got home at 12 'oclock.
